Hoover Bucs | Hoover Metropolitan Stadium

The 16,000 seat Hoover Metropolitan Stadium has played host to the powerhouse Hoover High School Buccaneers since its construction in 1988. During that 35 year span the Bucs have captured 11 Alabama high school football state championships and claimed 18 region titles.

The legendary stadium boasts a pair of multi-level press boxes, houses state-of-the-art trining rooms and 12 skyboxes. The stadium also features a meeting/banquet room named for Michael Jordan who played for the Birmingham Barons during his brief foray into professional baseball. In addition to being the home field for the Bucs, The Met served as the home of the Birmingham Barons Minor League baseball franchise from 1988-2012. The stadium also hosts the annual SEC Baseball Tournament and welcomed the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship in 2011 and 2012. In 2006, the stadium hosted the AVP Birmingham Open, the first beach volleyball tournament to be played in the State of Alabama. The feature court, which was above the football playing surface, was filled with 222 tons of sand. Fun Fact: The opening baseball scene for the 1996 motion picture “Space Jam” was filmed at the Hoover Met.
