2022 Assistant Coach of the Year | Johnathan Beard & Nate Miller advance to final round

Appalachian Eagles’ assistant coach Johnathan Beard and Tabernacle Christian Torches’ offensive coordinator Nate Miller came out on top in the first round of CM Gridiron’s first annual Assistant Coach of the Year interactive fan poll.

Coach Beard paced the field of standout assistant coaches garnering 1,354,347 votes (30.60%). Beard helped guide the Eagles to a 5-6 mark on the season and a birth in the AHSAA, Class 1A playoffs.

Tabernacle Christian’s offensive coordinator Nate Miller secured the second spot claiming 1,066,055 votes (24.09%). He helped lead the Torches to a 5-4 record including a trip to the CFA semifinals in 2022.

Beard and Miller will advance to the final round of interactive fan voting to face off with late Sylvania Rams’ assistant Nathan Parham and Mountain Brook Spartans’ defensive coordinator Shane Stearns. Click here to take a look back at Round 1, Group A results.


Rounding out the Round 1, Group B field were:

Jarret Williamson | Andalusia Bulldogs (666,690 votes | 15.05%)

Heath Brunner | Homewood Patriots (273,472 votes | 6.18%)

Steve Edge | Fyffe Red Devils (185,973 votes | 4.20%)

Torran Smith | Reeltown Rebels (31,610 | 0.71%)

Ethan Jones | Geraldine Bulldogs (24,237 votes | 0.55%)

John Kirby | Valley Head Tigers (8,345 votes | 0.19%)

    Tommy mygrant and JJ foos from Bellevue Ohio are 2 great football coaches for many years of there loyalty to a perinial power program for our Hall of Fame Head coach Ed Nasonti
