2002 CM Gridiron Defensive Player of the Year | Micah Turner & Eli Schlageter Advance to Final Round

Straughn’s Micah Turner and Geraldine’s Eli Schlageter punched their tickets to the final round in CM Gridiron’s inaugural Defensive Player of the Year interactive poll.

Turner lead the seven player Round 1 Group B field with 11,385 votes (44.21%) followed by Schlageter with 10,018 votes (38.90%).

Turner and Schlageter will take on Round 1, Group A winners Brooks Bozeman (Sulligent Blue Devils) and Joseph Garcia (Geraldine Bulldogs) in the final round of unlimited fan voting that will kick off Sunday afternoon.

Defensive Player of the Year contestants are comprised of winners from CM Gridiron’s Player of the Week awards from the 2022 Alabama high school football season.


Rounding out the Round 1, Group B were:

Braden Taylor | Oneonta Redskins (2,265 votes | 8.79%)

Jack Amos | Cherokee County Warriors (1,347 votes | 5.24%)

Micah Graves | J.B. Pennington Tigers (652 votes | 2.53%)

Connor Goodson | Randolph Raiders (45 votes | 0.17%)

Brody McCutcheon | Southside-Gadsden Panthers (40 votes | 0.16%)
