CM Gridiron’s Offensive Player of the Week | Week 1 | Cason Walls

Douglas Eagles quarterback, Cason Walls, has taken the Alabama high school football scene by storm in Week 1, earning coveted CM Gridiron Offensive Player of the Week honors. His stellar performance on the gridiron showcased his exceptional skills and leadership, solidifying his status as one of the most promising signal callers in the state.

In the Eagles’ commanding 48-17 victory over Marshall County rival, DAR, Walls exhibited an impressive display of precision passing and poise under pressure. Completing a remarkable 10-of-11 passes, Walls orchestrated the offense with finesse, accumulating 197 yards through the air while accounting for a pair of touchdowns.

Walls’ performance was nothing short of electric, igniting the Douglas Eagles’ offense and setting the tone for their dominating victory. His ability to read the defense, make quick decisions, and deliver pinpoint passes made him the driving force behind the Eagles’ scoring onslaught.

However, Walls’ recognition as the Offensive Player of the Week didn’t come from pundits or analysts. The honor was also a result of the passionate support from the Douglas Eagles’ fanbase. In the CM Gridiron interactive poll, fans were given the opportunity to make their voices heard, and they did so in overwhelming numbers. Walls secured a staggering 21,875 votes, accounting for an impressive 47.03% of the total votes. His remarkable performance on the field clearly resonated with fans, who rallied behind him as their offensive standout.

Walls faced tough competition in the poll, with Cottonwood’s Klete Meadows putting up a strong challenge. Meadows garnered 16,023 votes, accounting for 34.44% of the total. The intense rivalry between the two offensive standouts in the fan-driven poll added an extra layer of excitement to an already thrilling week in Alabama high school football.

Looking ahead, Walls and the Douglas Eagles are gearing up for Week 2. They will be hitting the road to take on Class 5A, Region 7 opponent, Arab. Walls’ outstanding performance in Week 1 has set the bar high for the rest of the season, and fans eagerly anticipate more breathtaking moments from their star quarterback as the Eagles continue their 2023 campaign.
