CM Gridiron Coach of the Week | Tyler Vann | Sylvania Rams

Tyler Vann, the head coach of undefeated Sylvania Rams, has been named the CM Gridiron Coach of the Week for Week two of the Alabama high school football season. This recognition comes after an exciting win that saw the Rams storm past the reigning Class 3A runner-up Piedmont Bulldogs.

This victory was particularly sweet for the Rams as it put an end to a three-game losing streak against the Piedmont Bulldogs and avenged last season’s painful loss in the Class 3A semifinals. Coach Vann, an alumnus of North Sand Mountain High School, is entering his third season at the helm of the Sylvania program. Under his guidance, the Rams have rolled to an impressive record, with 20 wins and 7 losses overall, including a remarkable 11-3 record in regional play. In 2022 Vann lead the Rams to a 10-4 finish and a trip to the Class 3A semifinals. His 2022 Rams squad posted ten wins for only the second time since 1995.

Coach Vann’s leadership has brought success to Sylvania football, and he’s not resting on his laurels. The Rams are gearing up for another tough matchup as they travel to face the undefeated Ohatchee Indians (3-0) this Friday night. This game will be another test against a quality Northeast Alabama opponent.

The real excitement, however, is building up for week four when the Rams welcome arch rival Geraldine (3-0) to Sylvania. This matchup could decide the Class 3A Region 6 title, and the anticipation across Sand Mountain is high. With Coach Tyler Vann’s guidance, the Rams are well-prepared for the challenges ahead and are on their way to make their mark in Sylvania football history.

So proud of the Sylvania Rams football team. I graduated in 1973, in the 70’s Sylvania was a basketball school. I tell everyone that I am a Sylvania graduate.
