CM Gridiron Coach of the Week | Cris Bell | Scottsboro Wildcats

Scottsboro Wildcats head football coach Cris Bell has just been named CM Gridiron’s Coach of the Week for Week 4 of the Alabama high school football season. This recognition isn’t just a feather in his cap; it’s a testament to his success on the gridiron and the exciting journey the Wildcats are on under his guidance.

Last week, the Wildcats faced off against the defending region champion Arab Arabian Knights, a team that hadn’t lost a game all season. The Wildcats pulled off a stunning comeback in route to to a 28-14 victory, securing a 4-0 start to the season. This win brought back memories of the Cats’ 2016 campaign, when they finished with a stellar 12-1 record, advanced to the Class 6A quarterfinals, and captured a Region Championship.

Cris Bell, now in his third season at the helm of the Wildcats program, has been the driving force behind the team’s resurgence. Before coming to Scottsboro, he spent nearly a decade leading Birmingham’s Oak Mountain High School. With an overall record of 61 wins and 61 losses, including five playoff appearances over 12 seasons, Bell’s experience and commitment to the game are undeniable.

Bell’s coaching philosophy centers on discipline, teamwork, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Under his guidance, the Wildcats have transformed into a force in Class 5A.

Being named CM Gridiron’s Coach of the Week is a nod to Bell’s coaching skills and the positive influence he’s had on his players. It’s also a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Scottsboro Wildcats, who have embraced his coaching philosophy and executed it brilliantly on the field.

As the Wildcats celebrate their early-season successes, they’re gearing up for a fresh challenge in Week 5. They’ll be stepping out of region play in Week 5 with a trip to 4A Priceville (3-2).
