In a testament to his exceptional performance on the field, Corner High School’s Rhett Cofer has been named CM Gridiron’s Defensive Player of the Week for Week 7 of the Alabama high school football season. Cofer’s standout performance played a pivotal role in maintaining the Corner Yellow Jackets’ undefeated run this season.

Cofer’s stellar defensive play during the game was highlighted by seven tackles, including three tackles for loss, and forcing one fumble. His standout performance was instrumental in the Yellow Jackets’ 42-13 win over the Oak Grove Tigers. Disrupting the Tigers’ offensive line and making key stops contributed significantly to the Jackets’ Region 5 victory.

The Defensive Player of the Week poll, which recognizes standout defensive football players for their exceptional performances, saw Cofer claim an impressive 15,452 votes. This accounted for 35.10% of the total votes cast, placing him at the top among eleven other defensive standouts from across the state.
