CM Gridiron Game of the Week | 3A North Semifinal | Madison Academy at Geraldine

The Geraldine Bulldogs (12-1) will host the undefeated Madison Academy Mustangs (13-0) Friday night at Coolidge-Isbell Field in this week’s CM Gridiron Game of the Week.

The Bulldogs, under the leadership of third year Head Coach Michael Davis, are riding an eight-game winning streak. Their only loss this season was a 37-16 setback on the road to Region 6 champion Sylvania in week four. However, they’ve rebounded convincingly. The potent Bulldog offense has racked up an impressive 508 points, scoring north of 42 points in each of their last six matchups.

On the other side of the ball, the Geraldine defense has held opponents to just 174 points through their first 13 games. This semifinal appearance marks the Bulldogs’ second in their 100-year history, and their first since making the move to Class 3A in 2010.

Meanwhile, Bob Godsey’s Madison Academy Mustangs are coming into the match with a flawless 13-0 record. The Mustangs clinched their fourth consecutive region championship this season, amassing an astounding 643 points. They’ve managed to score more than 60 points in four separate contests.

The Mustang defense has been equally impressive, surrendering only 149 points, achieving two shutouts, and holding seven opponents to a single score or less. This game will be Madison Academy’s sixth semifinal appearance.

This clash will be the third meeting between these two North Alabama 3A powers. The Mustangs currently hold a 2-0 advantage over the Bulldogs, with victories in 2011 (49-14) and 2010 (38-0).

With both teams boasting formidable offenses and solid defenses, this semifinal is set to be a thrilling matchup. It’s a testament to the caliber of Alabama high school football, where every game counts and every play can make history.
