CM Gridiron Coach of the Year Nominee Profile: Charles Hammon | Valley Head

Valley Head Tigers head football coach Charles Hammon has earned a spot in this year’s CM Gridiron interactive Coach of the Year poll. CM Gridiron’s fan-driven voting system honors the most effective and influential coaches in Alabama high school football.

In 2023, Coach Hammon led Valley Head to an 8-4 record, including a midseason six-game winning streak, and guided the Tigers to the second round of the AHSAA Class 1A playoffs. This achievement marked yet another successful season under his leadership.

Hammon’s tenure at Valley Head spans eight seasons, during which he has amassed a record of 41-36. His leadership on the sidelines has guided the Tigers to five playoff appearances and a region title.

As the voting period for this year’s Coach of the Year approaches, fans will be able to cast unlimited votes for Coach Hammon. The matchups for the voting will be announced in early January.     I have seen him coach for several years for more than one school. All the kids and parents love him. He is the best.

    I have known him since he was born. He is not only a great coach, he is a good man, father and husband. His accomplishments does not stop with wins or loses. Coach Hammon is the kind of person you want teaching his values to your kids in and out of the classrooms.
