Straughn High School head football coach Ashley Kilcrease has left an indelible mark on Alabama high school football, leading his teams to impressive records, multiple postseason berths, and significant milestones.
In 2023, Coach Kilcrease led the Tigers to a stellar 10-2 record, a region championship, and a trip to the second round of the Class 3A playoffs earning a spot in the CM Gridiron Coach of the Year interactive poll.
The Tigers’ 2023 performance was not just about wins; they also set a program record by scoring an incredible 428 points during the season. This achievement secured the Tigers their first region title since 2009.
Kilcrease announced his retirement in December, concluding a successful three-season stint at the helm of the Tigers program. During this period, he led the Tigers to a 24-10 record, including a region title and three postseason berths.
Earlier in his career, Kilcrease showcased his coaching prowess with the Brantley Bulldogs. Over five seasons, he guided the Bulldogs to a 48-16 record, five playoff appearances, two region titles, and a memorable Class 1A semifinal appearance in 2013.
Kilcrease’s career head coaching record stands at an impressive 72-28 over eight seasons, a testament to his leadership, and dedication to high school football.
