Southeastern Mustangs head football coach Kevin Byrd has been nominated to appear in this year’s CM Gridiron interactive Coach of the Year poll. CM Gridiron’s fan-driven voting system honors the most effective and influential coaches in Alabama high school football.
In 2023, Coach Byrd led the Southeastern Mustangs to a 7-4 record, including a 5-1 mark in region play, and guided them to the second round of the AHSAA Class 2A playoffs. This achievement marked yet another successful season under his leadership.
Byrd’s tenure at Southeastern spans six seasons, during which he has amassed a career record of 40-27. His leadership has guided the Mustangs to five consecutive postseason appearances, a region title, and a trip to the quarterfinals in 2021 highlighting the most successful run in Southeastern program history.
As the voting period for this year’s Coach of the Year approaches, fans will be able to cast unlimited votes for Coach Byrd. The matchups for the voting will be announced in early January. Given Byrd’s track record and the Mustangs’ recent success, he is undeniably a strong contender for this prestigious award.
