Moody Blue Devils head football coach Jake Ganus has earned a spot in the esteemed CM Gridiron Coach of the Year poll. Final voting matchups will be announced in early January for the unlimited, fan driven, interactive poll.
In the 2023 season, Coach Ganus led the Blue Devils to an impressive 10-3 record, resulting in a trip to the AHSAA Class 5A quarterfinals. This accomplishment marks the second consecutive season that Ganus has led the 411 Boys to ten wins, a Moody program best.
The Blue Devils showcased their strength on both sides of the ball throughout the season, scoring a total of 428 points while only surrendering 204. This performance earned Moody a consistent ranking in the Alabama Sports Writers Association Top Ten throughout the season, culminating in a 6th place finish in Class 5A.
Over his two seasons at Moody, Ganus has led the Blue Devils to a combined 20-5 record and has secured two playoff berths. These accomplishments are a testament to his leadership and skill on the sidelines.
Prior to accepting his first head coaching position at Moody in 2022, the Chelsea native and former standout at UAB and the University of Georgia spent several seasons honing his skills as an assistant at Class 7A powerhouse Thompson.
As fans eagerly await the announcement of the CM Gridiron Coach of the Year polling matchups, it is clear that regardless of the outcome, Coach Jake Ganus has already left a significant mark on the Moody program and Alabama high school football.

No doubt about it Coach Ganus belongs in this tier of great coaches. His commitment and attitude reaches far beyond Moody Schools. He is relentless in his efforts to achieve success for Moody Athletics from youth sports to scholarship opportunities for Moody students. Major colleges have visited Moody in record numbers giving exposure to athletes. Thanks to his pursuit toward achievement some would otherwise never gotten such exposure. The coaches in this group have been chosen for good reason and none more deserving than Coach Jake Ganus.
