Player Spotlight: Kai Young – Dominant Quarterback for the American Christian Patriots

In the competitive world of Alabama high school football, few players stand out as much as Kai Young, the senior quarterback for the American Christian Patriots. With a commanding presence on the field at 6’2″ and 195 pounds, Kai has proven to be a key player for head coach Cody Martin’s Patriots, showcasing not only his physical abilities but also his leadership and dedication.

Kai Young’s performance as a junior was dynamic. He threw for an impressive 1,826 yards, completing 62% of his passes and delivering 26 touchdowns against only 6 interceptions. These numbers not only highlight his precision and skill but also his consistency and ability to perform under pressure.

His ability to read the game and make quick decisions has been pivotal in leading American Christian to an 8-3 record and a trip to the Class 4A postseason in 2023.

Beyond his stats, Kai’s contribution to his team and community has been recognized with the Christian Leadership Award. This prestigious award is given to players who not only excel on the field but also demonstrate strong character and leadership off the field. Kai’s commitment to his faith, his team, and his school has earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and coaches.

Kai’s outstanding performance has not gone unnoticed by college scouts. He has received an offer from the University of the South (Sewanee) and has garnered interest from several other programs, including Limestone, Shorter, Belhaven, Tuskegee, Maryville, Southern Miss, and West Alabama.

Young and the Patriots travel across town to take on the Tuscaloosa Academy Knights, on August 23rd, to kick off their 2024 campaign.
