CM Gridiron Coach of the Week | Frank Warren | Parker Thundering Herd

Frank Warren, head coach of the Parker Thundering Herd, has been awarded CM Gridiron Coach of the Week honors for the inaugural week of the Alabama high school football season. This recognition comes as Warren’s team delivered a stunning 41-12 victory over their Birmingham rivals, the Ramsay Rams, in the second annual Stop the Violence Classic held at Legion Field.

The win over Ramsay, ranked No. 1 in class 5A, not only set a tone for the 2024 season but also underscored the impressive transformation Warren has spearheaded since his arrival at Parker High School in 2020. Prior to his arrival, the Thundering Herd struggled through four consecutive losing seasons before Warren took the reins. Under his leadership, the Herd has become a force in Alabama high school football.

Now entering his fifth season, Warren’s overall record stands at an impressive 37-14. His tenure is highlighted by significant milestones, including an 11-2 mark in 2021 and a commendable run to the Class 5A quarterfinals. Last season, the Herd claimed their first region title since 2014 and marched to a 12-2 record, advancing to the Class 6A state semifinals before bowing out to eventual state champion Clay-Chalkville.

Coach Warren has instilled a culture of excellence and resilience at Parker, traits that have resonated with his players and propelled the Thundering Herd to new heights. His strategic acumen and ability to nurture talent have positioned the Herd as one of the top prep programs in Alabama.

This Friday, Warren and his squad will travel to Mountain Brook to clash with the 10th ranked Spartans. The matchup is expected to be a thriller, further testing the prowess and determination of the Thundering Herd.
