This accolade follows a thrilling victory over the powerhouse Fyffe Red Devils, the No. 1 ranked team in Class 3A, further cementing the Eagles’ status as the top team in Class 2A.
The Eagles sealed the win in the nail-biting final minutes, in front of a packed house at Sam Kenimer Stadium. This matchup was not just any early season matchup; it was a high-stakes rematch of last year’s Class 2A semifinals, where the Red Devils got the best of the Eagles 32-14, eventually securing their second consecutive state title. This time, however, Pruitt’s strategy and the Eagle’s grit lead Pisgah to their first win over their Dekalb County rivals for the first time since 2003.
