CM Gridiron Game of the Week | Boaz at Geraldine

This Friday night, north Alabama high school football fans are in for a treat as the Geraldine Bulldogs host the Boaz Pirates at Coolidge-Isbell Field in the much-anticipated CM Gridiron Game of the Week. Week five promises an exciting non-region clash for both teams, each boasting a 3-1 record and fiery momentum.

The Geraldine Bulldogs, under the leadership of Head Coach Michael Davis, have been a powerhouse on defense this season. They’ve managed to hold three of their four opponents to one score or less, while the offense has racked up a formidable 161 points. Their latest victory, a 55-6 trouncing of the Holly Pond Broncos, is a testament to the way the first half of their season has shaped up.

On the other side of the field, Head Coach Jeremy Sullivan’s Boaz Pirates have also carved a path of success, scoring a whopping 178 points while allowing just 69 through four games. Their offensive firepower, coupled with a strong defensive line, positions them well against Geraldine. The Pirates are coming off a 40-13 win over Marshall County rival Douglas, giving them added confidence as they prepare to face the Bulldogs.

Despite being separated by a mere 17 miles, the Bulldogs and Pirates have not met on the gridiron since 1970. Boaz holds an edge historically, with an 11-8-1 record over Geraldine in their 20 meetings dating back to 1936. Remarkably, the Bulldogs have not defeated the Pirates since 1953, a streak they hope to break this Friday.

Both teams are poised to give it their all, making this a must-watch game for high school football fans. The Bulldogs’ defensive tenacity will be put to the test against the Pirates’ explosive offense.
