CM Gridiron Coach of the Week | Chris Elmore | Fort Payne Wildcats

Fort Payne High School head football coach, Chris Elmore, has earned the honor of CM Gridiron’s Coach of the Week. This recognition comes after a key win in Week 7 of the Alabama high school football season. The Wildcats secured a significant 28-18 victory over the Gadsden City Titans last Friday night at their home turf, Wildcat Stadium.

With the victory, Elmore’s Wildcats improved their record to 5-2 overall and now find themselves in a commanding position for the Class 6A, Region 8 title, at 4-0 in region play, with just three weeks left in the regular season. The Wildcats’ impressive turnaround follows early losses to Scottsboro and Guntersville. Since then, the team has been on a remarkable winning streak, achieving five consecutive victories and remaining undefeated in region play.

Elmore, now in his seventh season at the helm of the Fort Payne program, has consistently demonstrated his coaching prowess. Since taking over in 2018, Elmore has guided the Wildcats to a combined record of 49-27, showcasing his ability to put a winner on the field year after year. Under his leadership, the Cats have made six consecutive playoff appearances and claimed two region titles.

Elmore’s overall head coaching record stands at 76-51 over twelve seasons, reflecting his dedication and skill in developing competitive high school football teams. His achievements have not only elevated the Wildcats’ performance but have also made them a force in northeast Alabama.
