The Pleasant Valley Raiders claimed the top spot in the CM Gridiron Team of the Week fan-driven interactive poll for Week 8 of the Alabama high school football season. Garnering an impressive 948 votes, which accounted for 43.19% of the total votes cast, the Raiders showcased their skill on the gridiron and grabbed the attention of fans across the state of Alabama.

The win in the poll follows on the heels of the Raiders’ thrilling 26-20 road victory over the North Sand Mountain Bison. The hard fought victory marked their fifth consecutive win, boosting their record to an impressive 7-2 overall and 4-1 in Class 2A, Region 7 play.

Under the guidance of head coach Jonathan Nix, the Pleasant Valley Raiders have demonstrated exceptional teamwork and resilience throughout the season. Their recent streak of victories reflects their dedication and preparation, making them a formidable force in Class 2A. The Raiders’ consistent performance has not only led to tangible victories but also solidified their standing within the Alabama high school football community.

WEEK 8 NOMINEES:

Boaz | Pirates- The Boaz Pirates knocked off the undefeated Guntersville Wildcats in a 5A Region 8 matchup winning 42-35.

Horseshoe Bend | Generals- The Generals had a huge win over the Lanett Panthers defeating them by a final score of 56-52.

Mary G. Montgomery | Vikings- The Mary G. Montgomery Vikings came out on top in overtime over the Baker Hornets defeating them 34-31.

Oxford | Yellow Jackets- Oxford had a big 6A Region 6 win over the Clay-Chalkville Cougars winning by the score of 21-10.

Pell City | Panthers- The Panthers came out with a huge win over the Pinson Valley Indians defeating them by a score of 48-39.

Pleasant Valley | Raiders- Pleasant Valley had a big win over the North Sand Mountain Bison with an ending score of 26-20.

Ragland | Purple Devils- Ragland defeated the Gaylesville Trojans by a score of 27-20.

Scottsboro | Wildcats- The Scottsboro Wildcats came out with a win over the Arab Knights in an offensive battle by the final score of 50-47.

Southside (Gadsden) | Panthers– The Panthers had a huge win over the Gadsden City Titans with a final score of 30-23.

Straughn | Tigers- Straughn had a big win over the New Brockton Gamecocks defeating them by the final score of 36-33.
