Appalachian Eagles quarterback Sean Curtis has captured the honor of CM Gridiron Offensive Player of the Week for week 9 of the Alabama high school football season. Curtis amassed an impressive 10,650 votes, garnering 34.42% of the total votes cast in the weekly fan-driven, interactive poll.
Curtis showcased his versatility and skill on the field with a standout performance that led the Eagles to a thrilling 41-34 victory over their Class 1A, Region 8 rival, Valley Head. Demonstrating his prowess as a dual-threat quarterback, Curtis completed 7-of-11 passes for 117 yards, connecting for a touchdown through the air. Adding to his impressive aerial display, he caught a 30-yard reception, showing his ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game.
On the ground, Curtis was unstoppable, carrying the ball 18 times and rushing for 100 yards, along with two touchdowns. His dynamic performance was instrumental in closing out the regular season with a strong 8-2 record their best finish since 2010.
Looking ahead, Curtis and the Appalachian Eagles are gearing up for the postseason. They will return to action on November 8th, hosting the Donoho Falcons in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs. With Curtis under center, the Eagles aim to make a deep postseason run.
