Fort Payne Wildcats kicker Conner Hughes has claimed the 2024 CM Gridiron Offensive Player of the Year honor, earning a commanding 13,518 votes—68.32% of the total cast—in the annual fan-driven poll.
Hughes’ standout performance was instrumental in the Wildcats’ impressive 10-3 season. Behind his leadership, Fort Payne advanced to the Class 6A quarterfinals, ultimately falling in a nail-biting 28-26 loss to the Oxford Yellow Jackets.
Throughout the season, Hughes showcased exceptional skill and poise, solidifying himself as a key playmaker for the Wildcats. His contributions on the field consistently propelled his team to victory, capturing the attention and admiration of high school football fans across the state.
